Foundation Texts

Note well: In regards to the links to the Rosicrucian Manifestos, and connected historical materials below, while we hold the Manifestos in the highest regard, and while we appreciate the significance of the other historical materials provided here, the specific translations cannot necessarily be taken as endorsed by us, they are simply provided for the edification of the public and to provide some access to the foundational texts of Rosicrucianism.

Fama Fraternitatis

The "Fama Fraternitatis," or "The Fame of the Brotherhood," is a manifesto published in 1614, introducing the Rosicrucian Order. It outlined the fraternity's mystical, philosophical, and alchemical beliefs, sparking curiosity and debate throughout Europe and heavily influencing esoteric traditions and Western occultism.

Confessio Fraternitatis

The Confessio Fraternitatis , or simply The Confessio, printed in Kassel (Germany) in 1615, is the second anonymous manifestos, of a trio of Rosicrucian pamphlets. It invited scholars to join the cause and emphasized the imminent universal reformation.

Chymical Wedding

The "Chymical Wedding of Christian Rosenkreutz," penned in 1616, is an allegorical romance linking Rosicrucianism with alchemical tradition. Depicting a seven-day spiritual journey, it symbolizes transformative processes and offers deep esoteric insights, making it a cornerstone text in Western hermeticism and alchemical lore.

'Mirror of Wisdom' of Theophilus Schweighardt

Speculum Sophicum Rhodostauroticum is an early text of Rosicrucianism, published in 1618 by the pseudonymous "Theophilus Schweighardt Constantiens". Diving into deeper esoteric content, this document further elucidates the beliefs and philosophies of the Rosicrucians, serving as a reflective mirror ("speculum") of their intricate, symbolic wisdom and spiritual pursuits.
